At more than 200 episodes and 5+MM downloads, Jake Sasseville’s long-running talk show is a catalyst to the heart and mind. It features inspirational interviews with masters, heart-searching conversations with presidents of fortune 500 companies and NBA teams and highlights the common thread of what makes us all profoundly human. Widely considered as one of the most influential interviewers of his generation (and the youngest TV host in late night TV history on ABC), Jake’s style is inquisitive, humorous and heartfelt. He’s open about weight issues, watching his brother die when he was 17, failing in dozens of business ventures during his 20s, his recovery in 12 step programs — and his most recent move to Maui, the launch of his Institute and his global real estate endeavors.

Dr. Arun Gandhi spent his teen years with his Grandfather, peace and nonviolent activist, Mahatma Gandhi.

He was 12 when he moved to India to live with Grandfather, and his transition from his boyhood to adulthood was spent with the elder Gandhi, and receiving at least one hour per day of one-on-one attention from him, despite a schedule that would make world leaders today cringe.

Arun is a masterful storyteller, weaving story with takeaway and shares laughter and reflection on today's world, political climate, the essence of human beings and his grandfather's lessons about life that we've still yet to grasp today.

Empowering and important interview.

Sabin Lomac is co-founder of a company that is one of the top investments in Shark Tank history.

Cousins Maine Lobster, then a lobster truck business with a single truck in California, was co-founded by Cousins Sabin and Jim.

After receiving an investment from Barbara Corcoran, Cousins Maine Lobster franchised across the country, and just opened up a restaurant in West Hollywood.

Life wasn't always so grand for Sabin. A son of a single mom in Southern Maine with lots of energy and no outlet for it, Sabin was in jail (many) times and his Big Brother in the Big Brothers / Big Sisters organization saved his life. He now serves on the Board.

A wicked episode with a wicked human being, Sabin talks business, love, mentorship, following your gut and is entertaining as hell.

Thanks Sabin.

Human Rights and the Middle East are both important topics right now, and Parivash Rohani, who escaped Iran just before the revolution in 1979, is no better person to speak with about it.

At age 18, after her family's home was burned to the ground due to religious persecution, Parivash's parents hid her in her cousin's dorm room at a local university. Before ending up in Orange County, CA and eventually settling in Maine, Parivash escaped to India, where she met her husband and had her first child.

Recently, because of ill parents, Parivash went back to Iran -- not once, but twice -- despite the dangers of doing so as a member of the Baha'i Faith. An incredible story that will humanize the situation in the Middle East for you.

Enjoy,

Jake

Andrena Hale was the youngest director's rep in the history of the music business under Puffy in the 90s. She worked at Bad Boy before transitioning into television as a successful producer and creator.

The credits are exhaustive, but beyond the TV credits, there's a soulful hustle and giant heart that Andrena shares with the world. She tells how she's made in a business that's lethal for most human beings, let alone a black woman from Detroit.

As she says at the end, "I'm 47 and I believe in finding soul a mate, and I don't believe God puts a desire in your heart without it being possible to achieve it."

Thank you Andrena. Enjoy the show everybody.

Gabriel Charles Tyler, 24, is a native of the South Side of Chicago, he's an assistant editor of Scholastic in New York City and is just about to receive his masters degree in Journalism from Columbia University.

The son of a military preacher and strong women in his life, Gabriel was clear early on about the life he wanted to live. I found this interview inspiring -- that even at his age, Gab's open, honest and has some clear views on race, religion, sexuality, spirituality, career and what it's like growing up on the South Side.

Acclaimed dancer, Joffrey Ballet graduate and NYU alum Jess Grippo has been dancing all her life.

It was after her TED talk that she realized perhaps the most important piece of information that has impacted her creative process: knowing the Seasons of Creativity.

Using winter, spring, summer and fall as metaphors, Jess explores seasons of creativity to decide when to be creating, sharing, displaying and reflecting on your work. It's a powerful set of tools for maximizing your output and reducing the amount of emotional burden creatives often feel.

She's been sharing this work with coaching clients and in seminars around the world.

If our 20s is for truly discovering what we're put on earth for, at least professionally, but also personally, Jonathan has a Ph.D.

Starting out at Morehouse University, the only all male historically black institution of higher learning in the US, Jonathan went to Stanford, dropped out, starting becoming successful at Google and Shazam, opted out, and now is a full time musician.

Beneath the titles and right turns, JS shares what's helped him make the unpopular yet fulfilling decisions, what he's learned along the way that can help you in making the leap to live a more daring and fulfilling life.

Recovering addict Christopher Bailey hadn't seen his twin bro and social activistBobby Bailey in years.

After a severe head injury and deadly addiction to meth, opiates and alcohol, Christopher Bailey was homeless in a park outside San Diego.

Bobby Bailey, co-founder of Invisible Children and Global Citizens Project, found his twin brother in the park quite by accident.

Once and for all, Bobby committed to hold space and see his twin through detox and recovery. They rode out detox for 8 days in a Motel 6, and what happens next is nothing short of miraculous.

Their first full interview together since Chris Bailey finished his 7-month journey walking across the United States, promoting his new project -- Hold Space -- and together, how they plan to change the game for addicts and those affected by them.

Brooklyn-based artist Kimia Kline is an incredibly successful painter. Her work is inspired by the execution of her grandfather in Iran for his religious beliefs. She and her family are on a secret list and if they return to Iran, they face capture and death themselves.

So, Kimia makes art about what she imagines her homeland to be, since she'll never be able to return.

Fresh off a fellowship in Detroit, Kimia's work is presented around the world. She's bucked the status quo ("that nipple is too pink" her art instructor once said. "I like it just like it is," Kimia responded) and earns a handsome living from her work. Her documentary about her grandfather was screen in several International Film Festivals.

More than the art, the way Kimia lives her life, accepts challenges and opportunities with ease and grace is something we can learn from -- as artists, especially.

O-M-G. Persuasion engineer & billionaire minded biz coach Bryan Franklin does our show as one of the first shows to talk about his new book with co-author Michael Ellsberg: The Last Safe Investment: Spending Now to Increase Your True Wealth Forever.

For Gen Y who see their parents and grandparents as "f*cked" (FACD - Financial Advice Commonly Delivered - in Bryan's book), this is a step by step plan how to carve out wealth, live a bigger and much more fulfilling life and build an incredible community in the process.

"This book could only be written after the crash of 2008. Because people wouldn't have been open to this radical new way of building wealth before then." - Bryan Franklin

This is Bryan at his best -- radically personal, incredibly insightful and the simple terms he speaks about money, wealth, finance and personal development in will activate you. Big time.

Also, he surprised me at the end of the interview offering this: Pre-purchase 10 copies of Bryan's new book on Amazon, send him the receipt, and you'll get him one-on-one for an hour to discuss your own personal investment strategy. ($2000+ value)

Lewis Howes opens up about his new book -- The School of Greatness -- and his new outlook on life.

The former AFL football player and decathlete talked about a wide range of issues including family trips to see his brother who was in jail during his childhood, how his secrecy around being raped as a child caused him to lash out in other ways as an adult and what he's found is the common thread between all those who he's interviewed in his School of Greatness podcast.

I also thought it was refreshing for Lewis -- a man's man and pro athlete -- to talk about how men should be more vulnerable and emotionally available in life.

Definitely rate this one as one of my favorites. Thank you Lewis. -- Jake

Big Brother Executive and Creator Shed Simove prepared an interview of Jake. In this remarkably candid, honest interview, Jake shares insights on a road less traveled -- from starting out as a 14 year old magician first scouted by "The Tonight Show" to becoming the youngest host in late night TV history on ABC, to watching his brother die of cancer and his life falling apart around his 27th birthday, the interview is packed with ideas of how we all can create a world where empathy and compassion rule.

Before becoming the most famous substitute teacher in the country this week, Kondwani Fidel thought he'd be a lawyer. That's because his grandma said he liked to argue.

Kondwani is 22 and earlier this week a student in one of his classes released a video of him spitting a poem he wrote about his childhood growing up in inner city Baltimore. His parents were crack addicts, his dad's in jail, his friends have been killed and his 75-year-old grandma believed in him so much she found a way to put him in private school.

This year, Kondwani graduated with a degree in English and returned to Baltimore to give back.

The poem connected with the kids in the classroom, and has been shared 3+ million times all over the Internet. We asked Kondwani to do an interview -- but what we found was more than a man who's poem went viral -- Kondwani is an artist who's life experience has set him on a path of contributing massively to the world.

At a time when the #BlackLivesMatter movement is filled with unrest and antagonism, hear from a guy who truthfully tells his story about what life is really like for millions of black lives and that all of them do matter. And why we should care.

Very proud of this show -- Enjoy, and thanks Kondwani. - Jake

Sure, hiphop starlit Kayla Brianna's dad is NBA legend Kenny Smith, her grandma sang in Ray Charles' band and her step-grandmother was Carole King, but don't think for one second that Kayla doesn't stand on her own two feet.

At 21, she's already produced and sang with Birdman and Meek Mill, her second season of "Meet the Smiths" for TBS begins taping shortly and her philosophy about life is important for young women to hear.

She describes herself as the overlap in her groups of friends between "those that like to turn up in the club" and "those that want to read Deepak Chopra."

His take on spirituality and psychology and the new age folks is interesting and at times, rather hilarious. Shed Simove is an inventor of products that have sold 1+ million units, a TV executive that created Big Brother in the UK, a best-selling author (wait till you hear how!) and an entrepreneur that is pushing us all beyond the limits of what we think is possible, plausible or necessary. And that's where the magic happens.

I first met Shed at a cafe where he proceeded to show me his inventions, including a flying helicopter with the word "F*CK" on it (a "Flying Fuck"). During our meeting in 2007 (I was 21!), he received a call from the equivalent of the NY Times in London. Before I knew it, we dashed to the lobby of the Telegraph only for Shed to fly his Flying F*CK around the lobby and get front page coverage next day.

And so it goes. While Shed won't admit it, I will: Deep down, he's a philosopher at life, and through wacky inventions and TV shows and entrepreneurial activity, Shed reminds us all what we're here to do: explore, dream, use our minds and be kind.

Thank you Shed.

Reza Salazar and I have been best friends since we were nearly teenagers in NYC. Until we weren't.

This is an audio-essay capturing an email I wrote to Reza that he asked me to write after a particularly interesting chance encounter we had in an Upper West Side bookstore three days before Christmas, 2013.

We met to make good on a loan he had taken out with me. But of course, as all friendships rich with history, layered with secrets and connected by love do, it ended up being about something else.

It was the first time Reza and I had really had a conversation in two years. He was upset that as his best friend, I couldn't tell him I was gay, until I told the world.

The Artist + The Mobster: The two black sheep of a Long Island Family both color outside the lines.

There is a saying -- "you're only as sick as your secrets." For USC professor of theater, award winning poet and filmmaker Eric Trules, his family secrets ran deep.

After spending most of his childhood admiring his Uncle Harvey, it was revealed that Harvey was in the mob. A murderer and jewelery thief, Eric Trules became fascinated by Uncle Harvey's life of crime -- and started to think about how when you're a black sheep cast out from the "normaltons" of society, you often have two ways out: the life of an artist or a life of crime.

Absolutely loved having Eric on the show. Enjoy it...

Jason Zook can sell anything -- and now he wants to sell his future, to you, starting today.

After working with 2000 brands including professional sports organizations, ad agencies and startups, Jason has sold his last name (three times) to the highest bidder, he crowd-sourced -  through sponsorship - his self-published book to the tune of $75,000 before he wrote a single word and he has created nearly a dozen info-products and generated millions of dollars from all of this activity.

Now he wants you to have his future -- he's selling anything his mind creates from now till the grave -- for $1,000.

An alternative serial entrepreneur, Jason's philosophy is intriguing and can lend itself to the things you're creating, or wanting to create, in your life right now.

At 104, Connie Sawyer is the oldest AND longest working actress in Hollywood. She's also one of the first stand up comedians ever. With almost 200 credits to her name and a 80 year career, she started entertaining audiences in NY and LA during The Great Depression.

As you can imagine, talking to Connie is pure joy, and a trip down 100 years of memory lane.

Before stand up and Kevin Hart existed, Connie was one of the first stand up comedians ever -- and only one of three female comedians -- to work New York nightclubs in the 30s.

In the 50s, she decided she wanted a family, so she moved to Hollywood and became a character actress, which she has done for nearly 60 years, in such films at Dumb and Dumber, Pineapple Express, Something's Gotta Give, When Harry Met Sally, and such TV shows as Ray Donovan, ER, Friends.

She's a gem. You'll love what she says next...

Our 9-11 episode. When Jacob Kimchy was 24, his dad was blown up by a suicide bomber in Israel.

Jacob said he had a choice in that moment -- to harden and fight terror with avengence, or learn to love and share understanding with others. He chose the latter.

His story is palpable and in honor of the September 11th anniversary -- and offering an alternative to how we harden when something bad happens to us, and instead open up. He's the author of: "A NEW SUNRISE: A TRUE STORY ABOUT SURVIVING THE UNIMAGINABLE."

Beyonce's publicist Yvette Noel-Schure sure has made a name for herself starting out in the small Caribbean island of Grenada, moving to NYC and attending City College, becoming a journalist and eventually a staff publicist at Sony in 1993.

Since then, Yvette has molded the careers of Mariah, Prince, Beyonce, John Legend, Wyclef, Adele and others.

It's her heart -- worn on her sleeve -- her values, way of being in the world and way of treating others that is most influential, though.

I loved my interview with him - he and his high school buddies (who co-star on Jokers) were a 13-year-overnight-success as the improvisational troupe: "The Tenderloins."

Murr was my head writer on "The Edge with Jake Sasseville" a late night talk show on ABC after Jimmy Kimmel. It's been a joy to see James pack theaters with the guys and to do so well on Jokers. He talks about the business of show, creativity, hustle, hard work and letting go.

Perez Hilton like you've never heard him before. Sensitive, reflective and dynamic, the former "Queen of Mean" and I finally set up a time to chat, after years of being mistaken physically for one another (although one of us is now a skinny bitch).

Perez talks about his dad dying, the struggle of being known for how he was as a younger version of himself and not being able to shake off the perception despite his own spiritual evolution, doing Big Brother UK, going to therapy, Oprah and much more.

PerezHilton.com and affiliated sites do 3+ million visitors a day and his media empire has been bubbling up for almost a decade. Fascinating to have one of the first internet gossip pioneers on our show, and even more interesting that he's much more likable and sincere than I expected.

Love Addicts & Soul Mates: Amber Smith is a supermodel and actress. She's graced the covers of 300+ magazines and starred in films and TV shows over her famed 25 year career.

At 19, she developed a pill addiction which bled its way into alcohol and other drugs. As she got help for that from Dr. Drew Pinksy, she discovered the root of her addictions was Love Addiction. She got herself into Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (a 12 step program) and has been in recovery for 4 years.

We are a generation obsessed with building Community. From Summit Series, Airbnb, Coachella to Uber, micro-communities are everywhere -- even in our philanthropic work in the US and overseas.

Brett Emmons, a former gambling addict and professional Broadway dancer, is head of internships at an inner-city non-profit that helps refugees and asalym-seekers get used to life in America. He is also a member of the Baha'i Faith and serves his Faith at a regional level.

Both of them have unique perspectives on community and capacity building and both of their perspectives came out of a lot of pain and suffering.

We hit episode 100! To celebrate, we have an episode on why we care about Our Roots.

Six-time Grammy nominated jazz singer Tierney Sutton, Graham Oxman, a Boston Geologist, and Karen Rocco, a talent executive and one of the first employees at Sirius XM radio, give us perspectives on our roots -- why we care about them and why they're important.

Tierney talks about the roots of all music found in jazz, and the importance of discipline meeting spontaneity in creative pursuit.

Graham talks about how humans think their roots are in their familial ancestory, but the story of rocks and geology tell a far different story.

Karen Rocco talks about the roots of funk, Howard Stern and in Sirius XM radio.

Dajiow, the popstar formally known as David Jordan, came up in the music industry at the same era as Amy Winehouse (they were friends, and signed by the same management company).

That also included a ton of drugs, a string of hit songs (Sun Goes Down) and access to pretty much anything Dajiow wanted. As he says "they kept me just high enough."

After the label dropped him, he spiralled. In the downward turn, he found clarity and a sense of spirituality he hadn't had before.

He picked himself up, and for the last four years, he's starred in the West End of London in a show called "Thriller." A thrilling journey that he shares quite candidly with me.

From being puppetered to not being able to deliver on the hits, Dajiow is one of the only artists I've heard speak so honestly about the inside of the music business.

Joe Hawkins' mom, Carol Hawkins, was convicted of stealing nearly $4 million from U2 Bassist Adam Clayton. She worked for and lived with Adam Clayton for more than 15 years. While Carol been spending time in prison in Ireland, no one from her family has spoken publicly... until today.

Joe, 24 at the time, candidly opens up about his mom and his experience -- from growing up alongside one of the biggest rock bands in the world, living in the same home-estate where the famed U2 album "The Joshua Tree" was recorded -- to couch surfing after his mom was arrested and convicted of 181 counts of theft, and having to learn even how to open his own bank account.

Intensely private, Joe shared about his privileged childhood, his spiritual nature, two-near-death experiences overdosing on drugs, why he's still playing music and what he really thinks about his mom. While Joe's story is incredibly unique, we all can learn from what to do when a world is turned upside down.

This is an incredible episode that took a lot of strength on Joe's part, and I hope you enjoy.

Vianna is on the leading edge of spirituality and unlocking our understanding of the power of our minds -- and while the ThetaHealing technique doesn't come without its set of controversies, it's spread like wildfire in the past 18 years: there are over 300,000 practitioners worldwide.

Vianna talks about our ability to heal ourselves, how we all have beliefs and emotions that affect our dis-ease and illnesses, and through her techniques, she's seen physical and emotional transformations in her clients.

She and her team have recently re-located THInK® (ThetaHealing Institute of Knowledge®)  from Idaho to Montana. She took her lunch break to chat with me.

Worth the listen for anyone who is or knows someone who is experiencing illness in their life.

Zoe Nightingale's 'sexy' and 'sassy' brings grown men to their knees. It gives life to women who want to release their own childhood shame. Her comedy is recklessly acute, her intelligence is nearly lethal - and in recent weeks her podcast (which she's been at for two years) is blowing up.

Behind the brash tough girl Jew and mouthy DC-native, though, there is a humanitarian at heart that you ought to care about -- because she's emerging as a voice in our generation. She cares deeply about people and cares deeply that you care about them, too.

Although few black gay men from the South ever talk about their sexuality or coming up in the deep south, the ones that do stand out.

Lawayne Childrey shouldn't be alive today.

When he was 4, he watched his cousin burn alive in a fire. When he was 5 all the way to second grade, Lawayne was molested. Diagnosed with HIV and then "full blown AIDS," he watched his lover die in the early 90s as well as heterosexual friends all around him. He then developed drug addictions and got into abusive relationships.

He was gone beyond repair.

And yet, he turned it around. This is how he did. He always believed in God and that his life had purpose.  He's an Edward R. Murrow Award Winning Journalist who lives in Nashville. His book is: "Peeling Back the Layers: A Story of Trauma, Grace and Triumph."

James McCrae, author of SH*T YOUR EGO SAYS, talks at length about the process of writing his book, including moving to NYC penniless, becoming homeless in Hurricane Sandy and eventually hitting rock bottom -- only to realize that much of his suffering (and his incredulous thoughts that he was a fraud) was due to the ego.

From a beach in the Caribbean, the stranded wanna-be author started writing his book -- which became SH*T YOUR EGO SAYS. Two years later, James got the call just last week from the president of Hay House Publishing that Hay House would publish the book in 2016.

James has been called the "Eckart Tolle for the MTV generation" and his story is a great reminder of how important it is to create great art, to ship it, to stick with it and to live a life that is interesting.

Matt’s ex-wife (and mother of his five children) left the house (in handcuffs, as Matt recalls). Apparently during one of her psychotic breaks, she tried to take Matt's race car for a spin. That, Matt says, was the final straw. She hasn’t seen the children in 13 years.

Matt’s new book -- “Man Up” -- talks about becoming a single dad, not trying to replace their mom, different methods he used (including hiring two members of the Israeli military as his live-in nannies!!!) and others. Great, inspiring, Father-of-the-Year type story.

On the personal side, she talks about filing for bankruptcy, a home foreclosure and how she ended up living in her office for a time in her early career. “Part of my journey, apparently…” said Mindie.

She's married to superstar speaker and inspirational fellow Sean Stephenson. What a combo.

Cindy Gallop x Make Love Not Porn x Dating Younger Men x The Black Apartment x

Cindy is the wildly insightful founder of “Make Love Not Porn.” She's done my most favorite TED talk ever and she's the owner and designer of New York City's  famed “Black Apartment."

Cindy's life imitates art, and art is imitating everything she stands for. She's 55, she dates younger men (thirty years younger!) and she's on a mission to change how we think about love, porn and sex.

I love her, and if you don't know her yet, you'll love her, too!

Norweigan Grammy Winner Maya Vik may be from Oslo, Norway, but her new song ---Young Michael Douglas (YMD) --- is turnt up on radio dials / internet channels / computer screens worldwide.

Maya told me that the song, her first US release, was inspired by a clip she saw where Michael Douglas told the interviewer his cancer was caused by his sex addiction.

That set the pace for a left-of-center and interesting interview with Maya.

Kenton Lee x Inventor x The Shoe That Grows x DIY After Every Shoe Company Said No
Kenton Lee is an incredible entrepreneur who tried to sell his "The Shoe that Grows” to Tom’s, Crocs, Sketchers and everyone else. When no one bit, Kenton patented it, and started to fundraise. Then, seemingly overnight, his “Shoe that Grows” has become a global sensation. It's a shoe. That grows. And it's helping kids all over the world.

Rarely do we get to have an inside peak at an entrepreneur as his company is just about to take off. His gee-whiz approach to business (he's from Idaho ya'll!) and contributions to human beings is inspiring. Also, he has some wicked business insight from the front lines.

Garrett Madison was leading 14 people up Mount Everest when an earthquake shook Nepal in April. That earthquake also caused avalanches that decimated base camp and Garrett's only forseeable way out. He was at roughly 21,000 feet (almost a 4,000 feet above base camp) when the quake hit.

For the first time since being rescued off of Everest, Garrett Madison tells his story on The Jake Sasseville Show, including how he led 14 people through nearly three days of being stranded on the tallest mountain in the world and the untimely death of his girlfriend Eve, a medic who was stationed at base camp while Garrett and the others climbed to Camp 2.

A tale of survival, leadership, love lost and never -- ever -- giving up.

No words can describe how grateful I am that Garrett came on The Jake Show.

She believes that we should tell our stories more often, that it would heal our past and create a more optimistic future. She’s a super powerful corporate communicator who lends her experiences (like training Walmart sales people with English as a Second Language) into one-woman shows.

Jennifer Russell's powerful conversation about polyamory, BDSM, freedom vs. devotion (Paradox of Romance), money systems, belief systems and more left me breathless more than once.

She’s helped thousands of entrepreneurs create 6, 7, and 8-figure mission driven businesses with a unique combination of business strategy and deeply transformative identity level work.

She feels she's now at the center point of getting more women in roles that require them to be decision makers. She opines on how she would've coached the leaders of Occupy Wall Street to achieve greater results.

She discusses the structure of her polyamorous relationship with Bryan Franklin for the first time. What a whirlwind interview!

Marc Gafni is a controversial and remarkable spiritual leader and author of more books than I can count. He created the Success 3.0 Summit with John Mackey (CEO of Whole Foods) and Ken Wilbur. He invited Arianna Huffington, Alanis Morissette and Tony Hsieh to speak among two dozen others.

More than his accomplishments, Marc’s commitment to love, growth and expansion is what I found most impressive. He talks about the shared story of meaning and how desperately we need it.

Marc was a child of parents who survived Holocaust and he talked about how this impacted him. We talk about OUTRAGEOUS LOVE and how to LOVE OUTRAGEOUSLY.

Marc discusses the power dynamics in sexual and spiritual relationships and addresses the allegations of his own sexual impropriety over the years honestly and lovingly. Was touched by his openness. You will be, too.

He considers himself an “African kid with a white dad that didn’t know his place, but musically, the tribal melodies and exotic guitar riffs were imprinted on me.”

The “Halfblood prince” moved to Kansas City, Missouri and got involved with crowds he wasn’t proud of. He talks Faith, music, mental illness and the suicide of his best friend.

In Part 2 of my interview with Adam Barr, Emmy winning producer, he tells me about the "stupid business of Hollywood," including how it's a one "ruled by sociopaths." (again, from Adam's mouth)

And yet, he says, "I love it more than anything, because I can create. But I don't forget that it's ephemeral."

Thank God for honesty and redemption. This is perfect for any writer, actor, director in the business or aspiring. We take a sober trip down memory lane on his various gigs, inside the insane world of writer's rooms and TV pitch meetings. and Adam shares the relevant pearls of wisdom and intimacy of it all.

"I've seen more tears in a comedy writer's room than not."

Adam shares on what it's like to work so closely with people like Julia Louis Dreyfus (Seinfeld, Christine, VEEP), Jimmy Burrows (Friends, Will and Grace, Mike and Molly, The Big Bang Theory, Mary Tyler Moore), Debra Messing (Will and Grace, Smash) and Conan O’Brien.

(P1) Emmy winning TV writer & producer Adam Barr and I first met when I was 17. In fact, I'll be the first to say that Adam gave me my "big break," inviting me, a then overweight (350 pounds) local access TV host in Maine, onto the NBC set of "Will and Grace" in Los Angeles to interview the entire cast. It set my life on a whole new trajectory, taught me that anything was possible and created so much joy.

Adam's credits include "Will and Grace," "Desperate Housewives," "Old Adventures of New Christine," "Suburgatory," "The New Normal," "Growing Up Fisher," "Kath and Kim," among other gigs.

We talk about growing up in the same town in Maine, how our mom's knew each other and then we deep dive into the HOWs and WHYs of comedy and TV and the ins and outs of surviving in Hollywood for nearly three decades.

Adam talks about "Will and Grace" and how all the actors originally refused the roles. Plenty of laughs and touching insight.

This is one of my favorite, most profound and far-reaching interviews I've ever done. Proud and blissed out. Enjoy it.

Sean Stephenson may only be a 2-foot-8-inch man, but his global reach and message is undeniable.

I asked if Sean would come on the show, having heard of him before from my friends at Summit Series, but never having imagined I'd meet a philosopher and psychotherapist all in one.

Doctors said Sean wouldn't live beyond age 1 due to Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bone disease). He's now 35 and proudly says "I've outlived most of the doctors that mis-diagnosed me."

He willingly addresses my probing about his sex life and his marriage, addressing recent tabloid rumors that he's unable to satisfy his wife sexually. Apparently everyone talks about his sex life, but never to him. He was happy for the question. He has shared the stage and friendship with Bill Clinton, the 14th Dalai Lama and Tony Robbins.

“We work because we’re trying to figure out ourselves… the best speeches I've given are the ones where I've gotten on stage and spoken to myself.”

Nathan Otto and I talked about the trickiness of inheriting lots of money. Interesitng how shame often comes up around whether or not we work for something we receive, and how we deal with success (and failure).

Nathan co-founded Holometrics with Bryan Franklin, a company that measures an organization's alignment. We take a deep dive into corporate and organizational structure, leadership and how to engage with teams. Sounds dense, but of course, we made it light and Nathan makes it fascinating.

Tangentially, we talk about what makes a best friend, including play and pleasure, how Nathan deals with freedom challenges in his marriage and shame around money and receiving it.

Nathan's wonderful and I learned a lot. You will too.

Alex Allman is the Founder of RevolutionarySex.com. Undoubtedly, one of my most awkward lift-off’s in an interview yet! Alex was gracious and made the ride a little less bumpy.

I started off with a story of multiple male orgasms sans ejaculation (something Alex is studying), and from there we steered into sex, sexual energy, shame and porn, what is man’s worst enemy when it comes to sex, and more. At the end of the interview, Alex gives (3) tips on how to re-wire any relationship you have, sexual or otherwise.

“Multiple male orgasms without ejaculation is like when a boxer who trains for years learns not to flinch when hit. It’s only at that moment of not flinching, that the boxer can really box.”

He's a real Canadian (Montrealier) live-wire. He's a world table hockey champ and has theories about eliminating ADHD and bulleying from schools by instituting table hockey tournaments (as has been done in Quebec).

Twenty years ago, Lou forecasted culturally induced illness and getting in trouble for it among his peers. Now, people call on him as an expert in the area.

“People have an innate desire to be themselves," Lou said. "People can’t sleep, eat or wakeup anymore without being medicated. Sometimes what’s wrong with you mentally is that you’re not spending enough time focused on what’s right with you."

Non-Launch of ProfoundlyHuman.com. PROFOUNDLY, a news site we're starting alongside The Jake Show, was supposed to launch... twice... this week. We didn't.

In this episode of THE JAKE SHOW, I tell a few stories about Patience, an online dating experience and meeting someone after two years of "talking." Patience is what has brought me to detachment in the startup process, but also in life.

Truth is I make clearer decisions when I'm patient. I treat others better when I'm patient. I'm easier on myself when I'm patient. We've got this one life. It's worth learning to be patient.

Have a listen, and enjoy - Jake

"Australia's Tony Robbins," as I affectionately refer to Kerwin Rae, our guest today, is from Sydney and his organization has helped thousands of entrepreneurs generate hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue over the past twenty years.

Kerwin and I had a great chat on the show. His super model girlfriends, sports cars and millions of dollars all led to momentary happiness in his 20s. He's lost it all a couple of times, and each time, comes back with a stronger sense of detachment than before.

He talks about having a stroke in his early 30s, traveling to Peru for clarity only to find out his problems continued to follow him and how he sees life even clearer these days.

"Addiction was one of the most important parts of my journey early on because it taught me the power of resourcefullness," Kerwin told me.

A must listen for wantrepreneurs, entrepreneurs, innovators, creators or spiritual folks at any level. A real treat. Thanks Kerwin, and enjoy. Jake

Reza Salazar starred in “Law and Order” (NBC) twice before the age of 21. He was also raped as a young boy and took more than 20 years to talk about it. Now he does.

An inspiring moment for anyone who carries shame from their childhood and how Reza dealt with his.

In this incredibly heart-warming interview with my very best friend of more than a decade, Reza talks growing up in South America, where he performed as a clown alongside his mom from age 5 until his teen years.

By 13, he came to North Carolina as a trained clown, spoke no English but was just in time for high school.

By 19, he had guest starring roles in “Law and Order” and currently he stars in and writes plays in New York City, guest stars on television shows and does film work, too.

“As it relates to being raped, don’t try to forget,” Reza says. “Forgive. That’s been my job the last 29 years.”

Annie Lalla’s work in understanding love & relationships is reflected in her marriage to Eben Pagan. Her daughter’s name is Love Being (Eben’s idea, she swears!) and Annie is a love and relationship coach - one of the best, I'd argue.

We cover the bases and run the gamut together in this interesting, raw and odd interview that will engage and delight you. Annie candidly shares that relationships aren’t compromises, they are investments.

“Would you say going to a grocery store and purchasing veggies is a compromise?” Annie asks. No, it’s an investment, in your family or your health. Same with relationships. Relationships aren't compromises.

What I found particularly engaging about Annie is her deep sense of understanding on the areas she covers with an incredibly human touch.

Speaking of touch, she’ll share how she learned to invoice her clients in a more timely manner (and without shame!) by withdrawing $2000 in 20-dollar-bills, laying them on a bed and masterbating in the bed of $20s.

On Love Cynics…

"Every cynic is a  failed idealist," Annie says. “I know there’s an ember burning in every cynic…”

On her marriage to Eben…

“I fell in love with who I get to be… to live into that, I have to grow, stretch and abandon my identity… I didn’t fell in love with my husband, I fell in love with the possibility to be extraordinary…”

Loving Annie Lalla. You will too.

Rosie von Lila is a communications specialist who works with CEOs to catalyze them into storytellers. She is Cultural Relations Maven for Burning Man, helping them grow the culture worldwide (which may one of the most interesting jobs I've ever heard of).

I was perturbed by an email from Rosie to Mick the Producer, so I talked about with Mick, and then addressed it with Rosie in the show. What I discovered was an incredibly open and loving human being who has been transformed by the events at Burning Man. Worth checking out for sure.

Rosie added “Von” to her name at the suggestion of her friend Tom. Tom and Rosie were riding bikes gleefully through the streets of Amsterdam. They were on their way to a surprise birthday party in Croatia. This seems to be how Rosie's life works out -- easily and effortlessly.

She talks online dating, 42 point data plans based on Amy Web's TED TALK, "Dating... a Love Story" and Rosie reveals what she feels like she's hiding in life.

Charles Eisenstein is the author best known for his revolutionary book: Sacred Economics. He declines most all interviews. Ours he decided to accept. And I’m grateful for it.

He has a new book out, The More Beautiful World Our Hearts Know is Possible.

Charles blew my mind. It is the single best explanation of the money system, consumerism, its emptiness and solutions of what to do about it that I’ve ever heard.

We talk about how interest bearing debt breeds the illusion of competition, which causes human beings to strive for power. Scarcity, including world hunger, Charles told me, is artificial.

He taught me about how the “space between stories” allows something new, unexpected and beyond imagination to emerge in life. Really powerful interview with someone that I think will be crucial in the next forty years and beyond.

“Reasons are really rationalizations or justifications,” Charles said, referring to why he was divorced, and chose to get married again.

Jam packed episode, enjoy it.

Stuart Knight is said to be "one of the best conversationalists" ever. Kevin Bracken (boy genius founder of Pillow Fight Day, Newmindspace and the newly acquired GymSurfing) told me I had to have Stuart on The Jake Show because it's almost as if he has "conversation down to a science."

With a pitch like that, I was curious.

Stuart and I got on real well. He's an internationally reknowned (and talented / funny) speaker. We deep-dive into our childhoods, Russian brides (minus the married part), his new company "The Powerful Group" and the impact and art of powerful conversations. We both grew up on Tony Robbins, talk about theism and atheism being opposite sides of the same coin, what it takes to be powerful in our relationships with others and plenty of humour along the way.

Stuart tells me why he feels vulnerable around having a child, why he'll never get married and of course some friendly flirting. One of my favorite shows to date because of how real it got. Loving it.

James Mccrae, Creator of "Sh*t Your Egy Says" and Frederick Dodson, founder of "Reality Creation" are two of my best friends. I asked them to do an impromptu episode.

We catch up -- we haven't hung out in more than a year together. What follows is odd, insightful, interesting and humorous.

We talk spirituality and marketing, running a startup versus getting one funded, Ego, Presidential Politics and HuffPoLive, straws that break the camels back, best friend relationships that end and plenty of LAUGHS and INSIGHTS.

Enjoy!

Diane Badié is a fashion designer who took a right turn and a few detours after she graduated from New York University with a MPA.

She didn't go to FIT or have years under a mentor. She's designed clothes, much like she's lived her life: on her own terms. Called by Brooklyn Magazine "top 5 women artists to watch" Diane Badié apparel is bold yet wearable.

She's a sassy, lovable and determined artist and is one of my dearest friends.

I had her on the show because her life is an example to us all that even though our parents may have certain expectations for us, we still get to make the choice of how we want to live our life.

Diane went from a love of sketching design ideas in a notebook to launching several lines since 2012. Her design work is exquisset and she talks about the creative process, collaborating musically with her husband Mike Slott, and how she keeps the pure joy of design from burning out.

Kweku Mandela is the grandson of Nelson Mandela. He and I are both 29 years old and we're both men.  That's where you'd expect the similiarities to end. Not true.

I loved my conversation with Kweku, who shared with me that beneath his grandfather's steely determination, Mr. Nelson had reservations about assuming the roles that were thrust upon him.

Kweku talked about the challenges in his relationship with his dad (something I identify with personally) and how he healed it. We talk about an incredible documentary film he released ("Beyond Right and Wrong") and how forgiveness in action is a big part of his life, based on what his granddad taught him.

Ironically, Kweku grew up in Amherst, Mass. before moving back to South Africa when his granddad became president. He became a filmmaker and travels the world. I'm impressed with how connected and rooted Kweku is despite having a last name that is globally recognized as a symbol of justice, equality and dignity.

Susan Blond is a legend. BFFs with Andy Warhol, who she told me was an expert in PR and publicity before it became a profession, Susan has represented Michael Jackson, The Clash, Joan Jett, Meatloaf, James Brown, Ozzy, Cindy Lauper, Sade, Tina Turner, Morrissey, Julio Iglesias, Boston, Luther Vandross and me. She was my first publicist and we would often attend events together.

People, she told me, are fundamentally fascinating if you give them enough space and time to talk. She talks about Michael Jackson's naivite and asexuality, what's inspiring her these days and what turns her on these days.

A class act, I loved my conversation with Susan Blond and am touched that she agreed to sit down and talk. If you want a glimpse into NYC nightlife and artlife from the 1960s to today and how popculture has become so damn popular, look no further.

Bob Fuller was the youngest (age 34) University president in US history at Oberlin College. He earned a Ph.D in Physics at 23. Although we're fifty years apart in age, we agree we're kindred spirits.

We talked about what it means to become a somebody (Rankism) and then fall from grace (shame). After leaving the presidency at Oberlin, Bob became what he calls a "nobody." The phone stopped ringing. No one wanted to have lunch. Bob told me that as occassional nobodies, we must stand up and realize we have nothing to lose except for the shame that got us there in the first place.

Then President Jimmy Carter called. Then the USSR. Then Werner Erhard. Life is constantly in ebb and flow.

I loved the story of how Bob made history not only as the youngest president, but then pushed his board to vote 6-to-4 to authorize the first black head of athletics in history.

Bob is in his 70s now, and the conversation and stories of the life he's lived is simply extraordinary.

Enjoy Bob as much as I did. Jake.

Bob Fuller: "Dealing with racism at the college athletic level felt like war. I thought that if we didn't win this thing, we won't win as a country."

Marcie Prohofsky has been my secret weapon in the boardroom since 2009. She's a powerhouse sales, influence, life and relationship coach. She's encouraged personal breakthroughs, helped me drive millions in sales and has a huge heart.

Rob Nicholson x Marcie Monday.

The first Monday of each month, I ask Marcie to come on the show and meet a new extraordinary leader or entrepreneur who's needing some help in a particular area of life. It's often deeply personal and vulnerable. Rob is no exception.

This month, Rob Nicholson bravely faces the chaos of his family system. Rob co-founded a multi-million dollar business with his mom at age 20. His mom died, and through a series of unfortunate events which he explains, Rob's company was inhereted by his bitter sister.

He got nothing for the company he co-founded, and now is trying to figure out why he's having a tough time charging for his services as -- you guessed it -- a family business consultant. Starting life over and unable to figure out how to make money. We've all been there. If not yet, we will be. If not with money, then with something else.

Marcie Prohofsky: "All the u-turns in our lives are because the having of the things we want is actually beyond what is safe for us to have. It takes re-learning."

Enjoy this episode, Jake

Jenna Nicholas gave a speech to the Queen of England and Archbishop Desmond Tutu when she was 12 years old. Her childhood friend is actress Emma Watson and her collective life experience has made her a powerhouse influencer at the age of 24.

She and Jake used to run around London and San Francisco together as teens, and they reunited on this episode of The Jake Show.

Jenna is the CEO and Founder of Phoenix Global Impact, a consultancy focused on investment strategy of big companies and re-allocating investments to sustainable energies. Currently, she is working with a $4.5 billion social movement, Divest-Invest Philanthropy.

A fascinating and insightful young woman, Jenna talks openly about her belief in the Baha'i Faith, how it has informed how she moves in the world and also speaks quite vulnerably about growing up without a dad in her life.

A shining example for all women and young 20-somethings everywhere.
